I ran, he cornered me,
two walls and a bed.
Rough hands, drunk breath.
I crumpled smooth sheets
as I crouched,
to confine my emotions
of utter forlorn.
He shoved,
he shoved,
I shoved
trauma from 37 years past, even
as I watched those rough hands
steadily grope Lady Blinded
in many courts of law.
Today, I'm here, not
because I want to be,
but it's my civic duty
to unfold the blinds
on a man who could rewrite
the palm lines of many
in the name of Justice-
In-Chief.
I raised my right hand
as the world watched.
I looked straight in his eye
bared my soul,
for the silenced,
time’s up
I bled.
